ALANYA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
PREPARATORY PROGRAMME EVALUATION CRITERIA
Completion of the English Preparatory Programme successfully at the School of Foreign Languages is possible through in-semester assessment or by passing the proficiency exam.
In-semester assessment is structured on a progress evaluation system. This system includes 4 exams covering all skills, which are given at equal time intervals throughout the semester. These exams, which are conducted in the style of the English Proficiency Exam to increase the readiness of the students, are called ‘Progress Evaluation Exam’ (PEE: Progress evaluation Exam). The effect of each of these exams on the year-end grade point average is 25%.

Students who have an annual grade point average of 75 from the progress evaluation exams and who have attended at least 70% of the courses are successful with the year-end grade and are entitled to enrol in their departments.
Students who are absent or fail to achieve a grade point average of 75 can take the End of Year English Proficiency Examination provided that they are enrolled in the relevant academic year. The English Proficiency Exam, which aims to assess grammar, vocabulary and 4 basic language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) applied with the basic principles of Progress Evaluation Exams (PEE), is carried out in 3 sessions. Students who get a passing grade (60) in the English Proficiency Exam are eligible to enrol in their departments.
Students are entitled to take the proficiency exam three times in a year, in September (beginning of the year), January (winter) and June (end of the year). In the years when summer school is organised, a separate Summer School Proficiency Exam is held for the students who attend the summer school.
